GRANT – The Grant boys’ basketball team experienced its first loss of the season on Monday evening, as Sparta took down the Tigers 80-73 in a non-conference matchup.

“We are usually pretty good at following the game plan, but we were not good at that tonight,” Grant coach Dan George said. “We didn’t value the ball, we didn’t rebound, we didn’t defend and I made a couple of game management blunders.”

Zaiden Phillips put up 26 points and Ethan DeLong scored 20 points. Sincere Hatch chipped in 12 points.

“Tomorrow we go back to work,” George said. “We will own our mistakes and work to improve.”

Grant (10-1 overall, 4-0 CSAA-Red) travels to Cedar Springs on Wednesday.
