BUCKLEY – The Manistee girls soccer team traveled to Buckley for a non-conference game Saturday at noon and came away with a 3-0 shutout victory.

It’s the Mariners first shutout of the season and kept their winning streak going at 2-0.

The Mariners also defeated Traverse City Home School, but that team is not MHSAA sanctioned so the victory did not count in the team’s official win-loss record.

Kate Somsel scored two goals for the second game in a row, and Lindsey Gardner put in the other.

Senior goalkeeper Piper Eskridge finished the day with eight saves.

Manistee resumes action on the pitch Monday at Chippewa Hills.
