ROCKFORD – The Mona Shores softball team recovered from a rocky first game to split a doubleheader with Rockford on Tuesday.

The Sailors were blanked in the opener, 10-0, but took the nightcap, 11-6.

In the opener, Shores’ Lilli Baskins took the loss in the circle, allowing eight hits, 10 runs, two earned, a walk and two strikeouts.

Miley Peterson, Amelia Pena, Jada Mosher and Baskins each recorded a hit.

Jasmine McHenry helped earn the victory in the nightcap on the mound. She gave up nine hits, five walks and struck out five.

Raelyn Larry drove in four runs on a triple and a double, while Rae Olsen collected a pair of hits. Mosher added two stolen bases.

Mona Shores will travel to Traverse City West on Friday, April 18.
