MUSKEGON HEIGHTS — The Muskegon Heights Tigers’ football team ran into a buzz saw in the form of Godwin Heights on Friday night.
The host Tigers dropped a 43-6 decision to the Wolverines in a game played at Phillips Field.
Tiger quarterback G’Nari Davis hit Jameer Williams on a 10-yard touchdown pass in the game’s final seconds to avoid a shutout.
Godwin Heights started out quickly and led 18-0 after one quarter and 31-0 at the half.
Wolverine quarterback Jamarion Collins ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more in the victory. He ran in touchdowns from 11, 15 and 2 yards out. He hit Tellios Moore for an 11-yard touchdown pass and Rashaad Dorsey from 10 yards out. Jeff Zelaga also scored a touchdown on a 7-yard run.
Davis was the leading rusher for the Tigers with 10 carries for 47 yards. He completed 4-of-16 passes for 16 yards.
The Tigers gained 95 total yards while giving up 425 to the Wolverines.
Muskegon Heights travels to Grandville Calvin Christian next Thursday.
