PETOSKEY – The Lady Jayhawks from Muskegon Community College capped off the regular season on Tuesday by topping the 100-point mark on the scoreboard.
MCC led big right from the start en route to a 101-38 victory over host North Central College. The Lady Jayhawks led 34-5 after one quarter and 56-19 at the half.
For the game, the Lady Jayhawks scored 30 points in the paint and scored 39 points off 26 turnovers by North Central.
“It was a great win on the road today,” MCC coach Jason Cooper said. “The team played well on both sides of the ball. This gives us momentum heading into the post season tournament.”
Every player scored at least two points and had at least one rebound. Leading the way were Ty’veonna Davis and McKena Wilson with 25 points each. Davis also had eight rebounds and five steals. Wilson had four steals.
Ali Phillips and Remi Sponseller also hit double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Phillips also had six steals. Sponseller had a game-high 12 rebounds. Gaby Reeve also had 10 points. Maiya Hill had six assists.
The Jayhawks (15-12, 9-5) are seeded No. 3 going into next week’s first round of tournament. They will host either Grand Rapids Community College or Delta CC on Tuesday.
North Central fell to 1-24, 0-13.
