The Muskegon Risers launched in 2015 as an elite outdoor soccer club, attracting thousands of enthusiastic fans to Saturday evening games throughout the summer. Now the Risers have gone indoors as well, playing a winter schedule at the L.C. Walker Arena as part of the Premier Arena Soccer League.

Muskegon’s introduction to indoor soccer is the cover story of the January edition of the Local Sports Journal magazine, which is available for free at selected restaurants and retailers throughout the area.

The January magazine also includes a profile of former Mona Shores football great Asantay Brown, who recently starred in the Cotton Bowl with the Western Michigan University football team; a nostalgic trip back to the days of the Muskegon Mohawks, Fury and pro Lumberjacks, by longtime Muskegon Chronicle hockey writer Rop Rop; and a profile of North Muskegon High School basketball standout Riley Fairfield.
