The women’s basketball team from Muskegon Community College had a rough start to their season in an 87-56 loss to Davenport University.

The Jayhawks trailed by 17 at the half.

Jazmyn Good led MCC with 17 points and four rebounds. Sabri Carter-Latin had seven rebounds. Kassondra Kurnat had five assists.

MCC was plagued by 26 turnovers and also got stung by Davenport’s 20 offensive rebounds. Having two returning players – Lindsey Burnside and Molly Christophersen – sidelined with injuries also didn’t help.

The Jayhawks return to action tonight in the East-West Classic in Alpena.
