Mason County Central scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to earn a 5-4  Division 3 pre-district baseball win over Shelby on Tuesday.

The win sends MCC into the district semifinals where they will face Montague on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Mason County Central.

Shelby took a 3-0 lead after one inning, but MCC chipped away with a run in the second and three in fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead.

That lead was short lived as Shelby tied it at 4-4 with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Montague scored the eventual winning run in the top of the sixth inning.

Sean Wells led MCC with three hits and two RBIs and Jacob Graczyk had two hits.

Tristan Gerbers knocked in two runs for the Spartans.

MCC’s Brian Erndteman earned the pitching win allowing ten hits, one earned run, while fanning seven.

Shelby’s Jake Baffi and Tony Guerra had three hits each to lead the Tigers.

Dylan Unger had two hits and Guerra knocked in three runs.
