The Muskegon Lumberjacks blew an early lead Saturday, then lost a 4-3 decision to host Bloomington in the final seconds of regulation.

Bloomington’s Shane Bednard broke a 3-3 tie with 2.7 seconds remaining in the game to steal the win.

Muskegon grabbed an 1-0 lead seven minutes into the first period on its first power play of the night. Trevor Hamilton found the back of the net with assists from Matheson Iacopelli and Ryan Siroky.

The Lumberjacks took a 2-1 lead less than a minute after giving up a Bloomington goal late in the first period. Mark Petaccio scored the first of his two goals off Iacopelli’s second assist of the night.

But the Thunder responded with a goal with 36 seconds remaining in the first period, and then shut out Muskegon in the second period. Bloomington took a 3-2 lead late in the second on a Max Gottlieb goal.

Petaccio tied the score 3-3 for Muskegon midway through the third period, with assists from Siroky and Corey Schueneman , before Bednard scored the winning goal for Bloomington.

Muskegon was outshot 42-39. Lumberjack goalie Michael Latorella posted 38 saves in the loss.
