The Mona Shores girls soccer team opened its season with a 1-1 tie against West Ottawa in soggy conditions on Wednesday.
The Sailors took an early lead on a goal by Sarah Mikesell, which was assisted by Peyton Erndteman. West Ottawa tied the score and neither team was able to cash in after that.
Madison Blackwell turned in a strong performance in goal for the Sailors.
“Overall it was a good season opener for us,” said Mona Shores Coach Lindsey Thorsen. “We just have some fine tuning to do.”
