Tigers 10, Marlins 3– .The Tigers completed a season series sweep over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.

LSJ Logo incertDetroit jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning before Miami responded with two runs in the second to cut its deficit to 4-2.

The Tigers increased their lead to 8-2 with one run in the bottom of the second, one in the fourth and two tallies in the fifth frame.

The Marlins cut their deficit to 8-3 with a run in the seventh inning before Detroit closed the scoring with two runs in the eighth.Eye on the D

Miguel Cabrera paced the Tigers with three hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Jarrod Saltalamacchia added a double, home run and two RBIs while Victor Martinez chipped in with two RBIs.

Detroit’s starting pitcher Daniel Norris picked up his first victory of the season, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out eight batters in five innings.

The Marlins were led in a losing effort by Adeiny Hechavarria with a triple and RBI, while Chris Johnson and Ichiro Suzuki each had an RBI.

The Tigers are now 40-38 on the season, good for third place in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.

Detroit will open an 11 game road trip starting Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Rays.
