Adam Brizgala is starting to look pretty comfortable between the pipes for the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Last weekend he was brilliant in helping the Lumberjacks gain a big win over first-place Chicago.
He continued his hot play on Saturday, allowing just one late goal on 29 shots to lead the Jacks to a 4-1 victory over the Madison Capitols at the Alliant Energy Arena in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Lumberjacks improved their record to 19-12-2 on the season, good for 40 points and a third-place tie with the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL’s Eastern Conference standings.
Muskegon will end its three-game road trip on Monday afternoon with a game against the Team USA Under-17 squad in Plymouth, Michigan. Faceoff will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday’s game started slowly for the Lumberjacks, who outshot Madison by a 20-11 margin in a scoreless first period.
Muskegon opened the scoring at the 9:12 mark of the second period on a goal from Colby Bukes. Koby Bender and Casey Gilling each picked up assists.
Andrei Svechnikov scored his 15th goal of the season 11:20 into the second period, giving the Jacks a 2-0 advantage. The goal was assisted by Marc Del Gaizo and Collin Adams.
Anthony Del Gaizo added a power play goal at the 18:47 mark of the second period to increase Muskegon’s lead to 3-0. Marc Del Gaizo and Matt Steeves was credited with assists.
Muskegon finished the scoring at the 11:33 mark of the third period with a goal by Keeghan Howdeshell. Scooter Brickey picked up the lone assist on the tally.
The Capitols broke the shutout with 1:24 left in the contest on a goal from Noah Weber.
