The Spring Lake softball team made quick work of Fruitport in a non-league double-header Monday night.

The Lakers won the opening game 12-2, then cruised past Fruitport 13-3 in the nightcap.

Spring Lake scored seven runs in the sixth inning in Game 1.

Lauren Somers and Lauren Hellman each had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Lakers while Leah Vaugh held down the Trojans bats with a two-run complete game from the mound while striking out eight.

Fruitport’s two runs came off solo home runs from Aurora Wilks and Shelby Weaver.

The Lakers were paced in Game 2 by Molly Poole with three hits and three RBIs, while Leah Vaughan, Ann Marie Galloway and Jenna Core each added two hits.

The Trojans were led by Wilks with two hits, while Weaver sent another home run over the fence in the nightcap.
