The Fruitport baseball team improved its record to 7-12 (5-9) with a doubleheader sweep against Grand Rapids Union on Tuesday.

The Trojans won the opener 12-6, then picked up a comeback 7-5 victory in the nightcap.

Connor Schuitema starred in Game 1 for Fruitport, tossing a complete-game win with six strike outs on the mound in addition to two hits and three RBIs at the plate.

Logan Wadland added two hits and three RBIs for the Trojans while Jakob Carlisle and Brendan Peterman each picked up two hits.

Fruitport scored five runs in the fourth inning to overcome a 5-1 deficit in Game 2.

Dominic Colegrove and Hunter Gannon each had two hits to lead the Trojans while Lucas Kleyn picked up the win by throwing three innings in relief and striking out two batters.
