The Ludington football team won their season finale against county rival Mason County Central 29-28 on Friday in a non-league game.

The Spartans led 7-0 after the first quarter on a 19-yard touchdown run by Austin Hoffman.

The Orioles answered early in the second quarter with a three-yard run from Anthony Tenney.

After another touchdown by Hoffman to give Mason County Central the lead, Ludington’s Garret Meeker found Calvin Ireland in the end-zone for a three-yard completion to give the Orioles a 15-14 advantage.

Hoffman scored once more to give the Spartans a 20-15 halftime lead.

Tenney put the Orioles back on top with a four-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter.

Hoffman answered with a scoring run of his own, this one totaling 43 yards, to give the Spartans a 28-21 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Midway through the fourth, the Orioles drove downfield and Meeker ran it in from five-yards out to pull Ludington within one point.

Meeker was able to find Jake Plamondon on a two-point conversion pass, giving Ludington its final margin of victory.

Tenney led the Orioles on the ground with 54 yards and two scores while Meeker was solid through the air with 15 completions for 201 yards and a touchdown.

Luke Fountain and Plamondon led the Ludington defense with 13 and 11 tackles, respectively.

For the Spartans, Hoffman rushed for 326 yards and four scores.

The Orioles end their season with a 4-5 record while Mason County Central finishes 2-7.
