Greg Russell has been hired as the new athletic director at Whitehall High School, replacing Steve Guy.
Russell, who is entering his 26th school year as a Whitehall Schools employee, takes over for Guy, who worked for the Shelby school district for many years.
Guy, who had been retired, took a a one-year contracted position as Whitehall’s athletic director last year.
After signing Guy for one year as athletic director, Whitehall spent much of last year searching for more permanent candidates for 2012-13,
Russell started his teaching career at Whitehall in 1987 after graduating from Central
Michigan with a bachelors degree in chemistry, physics and mathematics and later earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration in 1994
Russell has taught high school chemistry and physics and coached basketball and
baseball for seven years and became the middle school assistant principal and athletic director where he served for nine years.
