Reeths-Puffer fell behind early and couldn’t make up ground in a 34-6 nonconference loss to Zeeland East Friday.
The host Rockets trailed 19-0 at halftime before getting on the scoreboard in the third.
Running back Johndries Betts-Render scored from 1 yard out to cut the Zeeland East lead to 19-6, but R-P wouldn’t score again.
Betts-Render led the Rockets rushing game with 19 carries for 88 yards and the lone score, Zachary Santose had 24 yards on six carries and Marquiese Livers had three receptions for 53 yards.
Tyler Stenberg finished with 11 tackles for the Rockets defense and Dereko Riley added nine.
