There’s finally snow for this week’s “Snow Fest” at Mona Shores High School.

A host of events are going on at the school beginning on Thursday. The community is invited to participate in any of the events.

Dodgeball Tournament
Thursday, 6 p.m.

The girls soccer team is sponsoring this event with each team having six players (three males and three females). The tournament will be in the three high school gymnasiums. Up to 32 teams will be accepted.

Both students and adults are welcome to participate in this event. Soft, 8-inch Gatorskin balls will be used, no head shots, etc… and the champions will have a chance to compete the following night at halftime of the Mona Shores – Reeths-Puffer boys basketball game against Sailor staff members.

Sign up sheets are in the Athletic Office at MSHS. The cost is $30/team (basically $5/player) with the proceeds going to Mona Shores Girls Soccer.

Chili Cook-Off
Friday, 5:30 p.m.

The second annual Chili Cook-Off will be in the high school cafeteria at 5:30 pm. Last year, Mark Vandermolen’s chili was voted No. 1. It’s $5/bowl for adults and $3/bowl for students and it’s all you can eat. All proceeds benefit the Education Foundation at Mona Shores.

Boys basketball – Reeths-Puffer vs. Mona Shores
Friday, 6 p.m.

Come cheer on the guys as they take on rival Reeths-Puffer and look to avenge a tough loss in football. It’s “Neon Night” and all students get in for $1 if wearing a neon outfit. Halftime entertainment will feature an exhibition dodgeball match between the previous night’s winning team and Mona Shores staff members.

Girls basketball – Reeths-Puffer vs. Mona Shores
Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Come out and see if the girls can  keep the pace in the OK Conference. It’s “Neon Night” and all students get in for $1 if wearing a neon outfit. Halftime entertainment will feature contests between Sailor and Rocket students.

Snow Volleyball and Rave Party
Friday, 9 p.m.

Just like last year, 16 teams will battle outdoors with their glowsticks, neon outfits, and dubstep/techno music setting the tone. With two boys and two girls allowed on each team, this double-elimination bracket tournament’s format will be one game to 25 points on four courts and each team’s name must be that of a popular music group/band mixed with a volleyball theme.

The cost is free and so is the hot chocolate and popcorn.

For more information on the event, contact the Mona Shores athletic office.
