A sluggish start on Monday night cost the Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks in an 80-57 loss to Lansing Community College.

“We came out flat and sluggish tonight,” MCC assistant coach Sandra Bush said. “We did not play with intensity and were not aggressive defensively until the last 5 minutes of the game.  We were able to control the boards but just could not capitalize on our second chance shots.  We must learn to play with poise and confidence.”

Lansing led by as many as 17 points in the first half and increased it to 28 in the second half.

Sonnie Kurnat, Alex Torres and Sabri Carter-Latin each scored 10 points for the Lady Jayhawks. Tearaya Hill and Lindsey Burnside had 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
