Justin Abdelkader
Muskegon native Justin Abdelkader scored two goals late Saturday night in the Detroit Red Wings’ 5-2 victory over the host Vancouver Canucks.
The two goals give Abdelkader three in the first 29 games of the season.
Abdelkader scored at 6:08 of the first period to tie the game at 1-all. Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen drew assists on that tally.
At 14:44 of the final period, Abdelkader struck again, this time with Datysuk and Jakub Kindle drawing assists. That goal gave Detroit at 5-1 lead.
For the game, Abdelkader had three shots on goal and was plus-2.
In 29 games this season, he has three goals and one assists for four points.
