Muskegon Community College pitcher Megan VanderWal shut down visiting Kellogg Community College 4-0 on Friday.
VanderWal struck out 10 and scattered five hits in the win.
MCC took a 1-0 second-inning lead off a Sydney Tharp RBI single.
Kayti Carlson built on the Jayhawks’ lead in the third with an RBI double. Taylor Sanicki’s double drove in Carlson and Deanna Stickler-Gatson had an RBI single.
Stickler-Gatson and Tharp both finished with two hits and an RBI for MCC.
The Jayhawks (23-20, 14-7) face Jackson CC for a doubleheader at home on Saturday and head to Lake Michigan College on Sunday.
