Dan Bylsma
Pittsburgh Penguin coach and area native Dan Bylsma will be coaching team USA at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
“I’m excited and honored,” the Western Michigan Christian grad said in a text to the LSJ.
Bylsma led his Penguins to the Eastern Conference finals this past season and won the Stanley Cup in 2009. Bylsma set a record this year by becoming the youngest coach in the history of the NHL to reach 200 wins.
Team USA came up just short of earning the Gold Medal in the 2010 Winter games, losing 3-2 to Canada in overtime.
