SCOTTVILLE – Montague traveled north Friday night with hopes of notching its fourth win of the season.

As they say, mission accomplished.

The visiting Wildcats (4-2, 2-2) dominated West Michigan Conference foe Mason County Central, ringing up the first 33 points in a 36-6 victory over the Spartans.

Senior tailback Chris Carroll led the Wildcat rushing attack with 133 yards on 18 carries, while scoring three times in the process, while sophomore QB Jacob Buchberger threw for 167 yards on 8-of-19 passing and two scores in the win.

Recipients of Buchberger’s TD tosses were junior Mike Meekhof, who tallied two catches for 74 yards and a score, and senior Wyatt Ford, who hauled in a 43-yard TD catch

Buchberger also ran for 58 yards on 15 carries, while senior Alex VanVleet finished with four catches for 38 yards.

Defensively, Wildcat sophomore Cameron Brayman finished with a game-high 14 tackles, with teammates Ben Rupert and Brett Bumpus adding 11 and seven stops, respectively, for Montague.
