Sure, the Shelby boys basketball team is still undefeated after Friday night’s 63-58 league victory over North Muskegon.

But it sure as heck wasn’t easy.

The host Tigers (7-0) needed a 24-point fourth quarter to hold off the Norse (2-4), after the vistors carried a 35-27 edge into the locker room at the half.

Shelby outscored the Norse 36-23 across the second half to escape with the win.

Senior Jason Beckman led the Tigers with 19 points, to go with six boards and four assists, while senior Andrew Beckman had 16 points, 11 boards and two blocks  for Shelby in the victory.

North Muskegon was led by junior Ben Gautraud, who poured in a game-high 20 points, while senior guard Antonio Gordon finished with 12 points and junior Mitch Edick added 10 points in the loss.
