Morgan Giddings scored 11 of her 14 points in the first quarter, helping Oakridge grab a 13-point lead and cruise to a 45-26 victory Tuesday over Orchard View in non-league girls basketball.

The Eagles controlled the game from start to finish, taking a 26-10 halftime lead and a 31-17 advantage after three quarters. Orchard View closed to within nine points in the fourth quarter, but Hannah Reinhold scored eight points down the stretch to help Oakridge seal the victory.

Giddings had five steals and two assists to go with her 14 points. Reinhold finished with 17 points and seven rebounds.

“We played strong and took care of the ball against a very athletic team,” said Oakridge coach Terry DeJonge, whose team improved to 14-2. “It was very important getting off to a good start because the middle two quarters were pretty even.”

Jayshonna Blackshire paced Orchard View with 12 points.
