Evan Fles scored early in the game and Will Deur added a late goal, leading Western Michigan Christian to a 2-0 victory over Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian Tuesday in Division 4 district soccer action.

Fles scored six minutes into the game on a ball served into the box by Tyler Cook. Deur scored his goal midway through the second half  with an assist from Dylan Mines.

WMC Coach Dave Hulings credited Mines, Fles, Matt VanderPloeg, Ben Mast and John Larson with applying strong offensive pressure and keeping NorthPointe out of the Warrior zone.

“This was a real team effort on terrible field conditions due to the rain,” Hulings said. “We look forward to building this and moving forward.”

The Warriors, now 12-8, move on to play Kent City Algoma Christian in Thursday’s district semifinals.

Division 4

Ravenna 2, Calvary Christian 1Patrick Bendal scored twice for Ravenna, which advances to play Grand Rapids Wellspring Prep in Thursday’s semifinals.

Division 1

Mona Shores 1, West Ottawa 0 Eric Conley scored with about eight minutes left in the game, giving the Sailors the Division 1 district win.

The goal came when Nate Hoover outmaneuvered two West Ottawa defenders and sent a pass across the middle, which was headed into the net by Conley. Mona Shores had a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Goalie Tyler LaMense got the shutout.

The Sailors move on to play Grand Haven Thursday in Hudsonville in semifinal action.

Grand Haven 2, Jenison 0Christian Dault scored in the first half and Cameron Jerovsek added a goal after halftime, propelling the Bucs into a semifinal showdown with Mona Shores.
