The Whitehall girls basketball team used great defense to defeat Mason County Central 42-23 Thursday in a West Michigan Conference tilt.

The Vikings took control by only giving up 11 combined points in the first three quarters.

Whitehall was led by Emily MacArthur who had 16 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Melissa Shoup added six points and eight rebounds for Whitehall.

Kylie Mount paced Mason County Central with eight points.

Whitehall improved to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in the league. The Spartans dropped to 3-8 and 3-5.

Oakridge 69, North Muskegon 42 – The Eagles (9-3, 7-0) jumped out to a 22-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Hannah Reinhold scored 27 points while Megan Larabee had 15 for Oakridge. Mya Duncan paced the Norse (2-7, 2-4) with 16 points and Olivia Duncan had 12.

Shelby 67, Ravenna 33 – Shelby was led by Jenny Beckman’s 19 points while Chloe Sillman added 16 points and Deanna Gray had 12. The Tigers improved 8-6 on the season and  7-2 in conference play while Ravenna dropped to 3-8 and 1-7.

Montague 41, Hart 30 – The Wildcats (7-4, 5-3) were able to overcome a slow start by outscoring the Pirates 33-16 in the second half. Chase Jancek had 13 points and Claudia Rumsey added 11 for Montague. points. Yasmine Colon and Jenny Herrygers had 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Hart (5-7, 4-5).
