Great pitching carried the Muskegon Catholic baseball team to a pair of wins over Spring Lake Tuesday in a key Lakes 8 Conference doubleheader.LSJ Logo incert

Crusader ace Nick Holt pitched MCC to a 2-1 victory in Game 1. He allowed only one hit while striking out two and walking one. He outdueled Spring Lake pitcher Jorge Lozano, who scattered five hits and with seven strikeouts.

The Crusaders stole the victory in the bottom of the seventh by scoring two runs. Zach Huston sealed the win by successfully executing a bases-loaded suicide squeeze bunt. Zack Winzer had two hits and one RBI for MCC.

Sophomore Devin Comes tossed a two-hitter in the Crusaders’ 7-0 victory in the nightcap. MCC took control of the game by scoring two runs in the first inning and four in the second.

Huston had a two-run double while Jacob Holt added a one-run double. Lozano and Mark Williamson each hit singles for Spring Lake.

Muskegon Catholic improved to 10-0-1 overall and 6-0 in the Lakes 8.
