Grand Haven held off a seventh-inning rally by Rockford and hung on for a 5-4 softball victory Thursday in O-K Red action.

LSJ Logo incertPitcher Kaylee Hartwell dug deep in the seventh for Grand Haven, striking out the final two Ram batters with runners on first and third.

Jordan Buckingham stood out defensively, starting a pair of double plays to end Rockford rallies.

Buckingham and Mikayla Gronback had three hits apiece for Grand Haven. Gronback had two doubles and Buckingham slapped a two-run single.

Grand Haven is now 8-1 overall and 3-1 in the O-K Red. The Bucs are in second place in the league behind state-ranked Hudsonville.

Grand Haven plays Hudsonville in a doubleheader next Tuesday.
