The Muskegon Community College softball season came to close with a pair of losses at the regional tournament in Lansing.

LSJ Logo incertThe Jayhawks fell 2-1 to Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Wednesday and 6-3 to Kellogg Community College on Thursday.

MCC finished the season with a very respectable 33-21 record.

Against KVCC, MCC’s offense struggled with just four hits. Megan Birr and Morgan Giddings both posted doubles while Sarah Ferenz and Megan VanderWeele each had singles.

Pitcher Alexis Carpenter pitched all seven innings with no walks and two strikeouts while giving up nine hits and two earned runs.

Giddings got MCC off to a good start against Kellogg Community College with a solo home run, but the Jayhawks gave up four runs in the opening inning and could not dig themselves out.

Giddings finished with three hits and an RBI for MCC. Katie Hendrickson had two hits for MCC and Birr had a hit and an RBI.

Carpenter pitched six innings and gave up nine hits, four walks and five earned runs.
