Kayla Krueger broke a scoreless tie with a goal with 17 minutes remaining, giving the Spring Lake girls soccer team a dramatic 1-0 victory over Midland Dow Wednesday in the first round of Division 2 regionals.
Krueger fired in a rebound of a shot from teammate Olivia Windemuller, which was blocked by Charger goalie Becca Gamble.
That score was enough, helping Spring Lake’s Emma Gordon record the shutout in goal.
Spring Lake (18-1-2) advances to Friday’s regional championship against DeWitt. The contest begins at 6 p.m. at Forest Hills Northern.
