MCC Coach Steve Czerwon was happy with the win, but cautioned that the next opponent will be a challenge.

“Those were big plays,” said Czerwon, whose team improved to 8-2 on the season. “We have a team with a lot of people who can hit home runs. But Frankfort is a spread the ball around team and has a number of very good athletes. To get this far they’ve beaten two quality teams.”

The first quarter was anything but a blowout, with the teams playing to a scoreless tie.

MCC got on track in the second quarter, using three big plays to take a 21-7 halftime lead – a 51-yard scoring pass from Martinez to Christoffersen, a 65-yard touchdown run by Scott and a 94-yard run by Christoffersen.

Muskegon Catholic continued the big play barrage in the second half to pull away, with a 66-yard TD run by Scott, a 48-yard scoring burst by Helton, a 61-yard romp by Scott and a 68-yard scoring strike from Martinez to Christoffersen.
