The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team hosted theEast/West Classic this past weekend and did not disappoint area fans.

The Jayhawks topped St. Clair 98-80 on Friday and rolled past Alpena 108-72 on Saturday to improve their overall season record to 4-1.

MCC led St. Clair 52-35 by halftime off the play of Will Roberson, who scored 15 points and had five assists in the opening 20 minutes.

Eddie Tornes led all scores with 31 points and had six rebounds and five assists, Roberson finished with 18 points and 12 assists while Marcus Tumblin tallied 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Against Alpena, Tornes led the way once again with five 3’s to finish with 26 points on 10 of 13 shooting. He also had eight rebounds and five assists.

Roberson drove the offense at point guard with 14 points and seven assists, Tumblin added 14 points and Mike Williams chipped in 10 points.

MCC hosts its Thanksgiving Classic next weekend Nov. 27-28 with tipoff starting at 7 p.m. both nights.
