MCC beat McBain Northern Michigan Christian 15-1 in a five-inning semifinal game. Pitchers Robbie Bridges and Berto Vasquez combined to throw a three-hitter for the Crusaders. Cole Charlesworth led the offense with four hits and four RBIs. Hai Nguyen added two hits and two RBIs while Vasquez also had two hits.

The Crusaders downed Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart 2-0 in the regional championship game.

Pitcher Devin Comes was dominant, tossing a complete-game, four-hit shutout with no walks.

MCC scored its first run in the fourth inning when Jacob Holt walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, took third on a groundout, then scored on another wild pitch.

The Crusaders added an insurance run in the seventh inning. Bobby Ahern singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, then pinch runner Ben Treutler scored on a two-out single by An Pham. Ahern led MCC with three hits in the game.

MCC advances to Tuesday’s Division 4 quarterfinal game against Portland St. Patrick at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant at 1 p.m.
