Blue Jays 6, Tigers 0– The Toronto Blue Jays held the Tigers scoreless on Friday night.
The Blue Jays scored one run in the fifth, four in the seventh and one in the eighth inning.
Edwin Encarnacion paced Toronto with a home run and three RBIs while former Tiger Ezequiel Carrera and Kevin Pillar each had an RBI.
The Tigers were led in a losing effort by Miguel Cabrera with two hits while Jose Iglesias chipped in with a double.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey suffered the loss, allowing one runs on six hits in six innings.
The Tigers are now 45-42 on the season, good for three-way tie for second place in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.
Detroit is look to snap its two-game losing streak with a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers will look to even the series with a win against the Blue Jays on Friday night.
