Hart boys basketball builds lead and holds off Oakridge late

The Hart boys basketball team edged Oakridge in West Michigan Conference action Thursday, 58-52.

The Pirates built a 23-16 halftime lead and held on with a solid effort from the free throw line.

Hart (2-1, 1-1) made 11-of-14 free throws in the fourth quarter and were 20-for-27 in the game.

Oakridge finished 5-of-10 from the line.

Angel Salgado led Hart with 18 points. Karson Dunford added 14 points while Alec Kempker had 13 and grabbed nine rebounds.

TJ Ruel led the Eagles with 17 points, and Tanner Karel finished with 12.
