The West Michigan Whitecaps gave up four runs in the final five innings in a 5-4 ten inning loss at Lake County on Sunday night.

All four of the Whitecap runs came in the fourth inning, starting when Colby Bortles singled home Wenceel Perez and John Valente. Dylan Rosa then scored on a wild pitch before Luke Sherley scored Bortles on a sacrifice fly.

Valente and Bortles each had two hits to lead the Whitecaps while Bortles added two RBIs.

Starting pitcher Chance Kirby allowed two runs on three hits while striking out four batters over 5 and 1/3 innings.

The Whitecaps are now 62-63 overall and 26-29 in the second half, five and a half games behind first place Bowling Green in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

On Monday, the Whitecaps will wrap up their series at Lake County with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
