The Muskegon Lumberjacks are currently on fire to start to 2018-19 campaign.

The Lumberjacks opened the season at the USHL Fall Classic last weekend with wins over Fargo (4-3) and Sioux City (6-3) last weekend.

Muskegon continued its success with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Youngstown Phantoms on Friday at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.

The Lumberjacks are now 3-0 on the season, good for six points in the standings. They will finish their four-game road trip on Saturday against the Phantoms.

Both teams were held scoreless during the first period.

Youngstown opened the scoring at the 7:31 mark of the second period with a goal from Connor MacEachern.

The Lumberjacks tied the game 1-1 with 49 seconds left in regulation on a goal from Jagger Joshua.

Both teams failed to score during the overtime period, forcing a three-round shootout.

Bobby Lynch scored the lone goal in the shootout during the second round of the stanza.
