Ernest Helms’ game-winning layup with 12 seconds remaining in regulation propelled the Muskegon Heights boys basketball team to a 48-46 win over Ludington in a Lakes 8 contest on Friday.
The Orioles tied the game 46-46 with 20 seconds left with a put back basket from freshman Peyton LaCombe.
The Tigers were led by Lamonte Townsend with 11 points while Kevon Washington added nine.
Josh Laman paced Ludington with a game-high 20 points while Jayden Hathaway added 12.
Muskegon Heights is now 1-2 on the season while the Orioles fell to 1-2 on the year.
