The Western Michigan Christian baseball team rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to steal a 4-3 victory over Shelby on Thursday in non-conference action.

Micah TerHaar and Brant Zeerip both singled and advanced on the basepaths, then Cole Crabree singled them both home to provide the walk-off win.

Nathan VanderWeide pitched a complete-game victory for WMC, striking out eight in seven innings. Nick Moser had two hits for the Warriors while Sam Liggett had a hit and RBI.

WMC is 10-6 on the season.

FRIDAY

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

HART 10, SHELBY 6 – Hart pitcher Alec Kempker pitched a complete-game win, stroking out six.

The Pirates offense piled up nine hits. Matthew Robbins had three hits while Kempker had two hits and two RBIs.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 5-0, ORCHARD VIEW 2-2 – WMC and Orchard View split the conference doubleheader.

In the opener, WMC’s Brant Zeerip pitched the win, striking out nine in 6 1/3 innings. Nick Moser knocked in two runs. Dayton Rose hit a solo homer for OV in the losing effort.

In Game 2, OV’s Brett Shawl pitched a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts. He also had three hits, including a two-run homer. Michael Kamps pitched well for WMC, striking out eight in five innings.

REETHS-PUFFER 1, FRUITPORT 0 – Reeths-Puffer scored in the bottom of the seventh and final inning to grab the conference victory.

Kaleb Mitchelson pitched a gem for the Rockets, tossing a complete-game shutout and striking out six. Jason Ledford had two hits, including the walk-off single to score Spencer Fredricks in the seventh.
