The Mona Shores baseball team won the Zeeland East tournament on Saturday with an extra innings 4-0 win over Zeeland East after defeating Grand Rapids South Christian 7-4 in the opening round.

In the top of the eighth and the score 0-0, Mona Shores used three bunt singles by Aaron Piasecki, Brady Rose and Reid McAcoy to open the scoring after an error. Diego Pena then added an RBI single to help Mona Shores put the game away.

Heath Cory was spectacular on the mound, throwing eight shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out three while picking up the victory.

HART GOES 1-1 ON SATURDAY – The Hart baseball team defeated Hesperia 4-3 on Saturday after losing 12-4 to Grant earlier in the day.

Jayden Vander Zwaag picked up the win for Hart in the second game, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. Leo McCulley picked up the save in the seventh inning.

Alec Kempker went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs to lead the Pirate offense.

FRUITPORT 7-2, COOPERSVILLE 3-9 – The Fruitport baseball team took the first game of their doubleheader on Saturday before falling in the second game.

In the first game, Fruitport came back from a 3-0 deficit to pick up the victory.

Luke Mithcell led the Trojans in Game 1 with three hits and two RBIs while Zander Beatty had two RBIs.

In Game 2, Nick Kleinhecksel and Austin Ordaz each had a RBI while Chase Campbell reached base twice.

REETHS-PUFFER 14-13, GRAND RAPIDS UNION 5-3 – The Reeths-Puffer Rockets baseball team took home a pair of OK-Black conference wins on Saturday.

In Game 1, Jarrett Wall got the victory, striking out six batters over four innings.

Will Benner and Kaden Edwards each had two RBIs in the victory.

In Game 2, Cameron Douglas picked up the victory, allowing one earned run and striking out six over 4 and 1/3 innings.

Benner had two hits and three RBIs in the victory.

SHELBY GOES 1-2 IN TOURNAMENT – The Shelby baseball team defeated Kent City 12-0 before falling 3-2 to Fremont and 4-1 to North Muskegon.

Chris Beyer picked up the lone win as a pitcher for Shelby, allowing three hits and striking out five.

Nick Felt had four hits in the victory over Kent City while Simon Payne had three hits. Tristan Landis and Matt Felt each had two hits. Landis also added three RBIs in the victory.

LAKEVIEW 1-5, HOLTON 0-3 – In Game 1, Holton pitcher Aiden Poling took a hard luck loss, allowing one unearned run on Friday.

In Game 2, Rice Robins and Kevin Erickson each rached base twice for the Red Devils who fall to 11-12 overall and 8-5 in conference play.
