The North Muskegon girls soccer team won a Division 4 district championship with a 5-0 victory over Western Michigan Christian on Friday.
The Norse, who are trying to advance far into the state tournament again following a semifinal appearance last season, led 2-0 at halftime, then sealed the win with three goals in the second half.
Hope Johnson and Sophie Mueller each scored two goals for North Muskegon while Alya Pitts added a single tally.
The Norse will open regional play on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Grandville Calvin Christian at Western Michigan Christian High School. The winner will advance to Thursday’s regional final/state quarterfinal against the winner of Tuesday’s Houghton Lake-Elk Rapids regional contest.
