The Fruitport boys basketball team built a big lead, then hung on late to gain its first victory of the season, 46-42 over Muskegon Catholic in non-league action.

The Trojans led by 10 points at halftime and 20 in the third quarter before MCC rallied to make a game of it. Fruitport claimed the victory by making clutch free throws down the stretch.

Gavin Fisher led Fruitport with 13 points while Luke Mitchell recorded 12. Rico Jones and Ethan Flores finished with seven points each.

Jared Dugener paced the Crusaders with 22 points and eight rebounds. Sam Novotny added nine points while Carson Bleicher finished with
seven.

Fruitport is now1-2 on the season. MCC fell to 0-3.
