Leah Lowry’s shot from the free throw line as time expired propelled the Oakridge girls basketball team to its first win of the season, defeating Mason County Central 40-38 on Friday night in WMC action.

Lowry paced the Eagles with a game-high 16 points and seven rebounds, while Kyla Stewart added eight points and Macy Whipple had four steals.

Oakridge led 10-8 after the first quarter and 21-15 at halftime.

The Spartans outscored Oakridge by 13-6 margin during the third quarter to take a 28-27 margin before the Eagles won at the buzzer.

Mason County Central was led by Nyah Tyron with 12 points and six steals along with Charlie Banks with 10 points and six rebounds.

The Eagles improved to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in league play, while Mason County Central fell to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
