The Mona Shores boys cross country team finished a strong third on Wednesday in an O-K Green conference meet at Helmer Park in Holland.

The Sailor boys had three runners in the top 10 in the individual standings and finished with 43 points. They were outdistanced by Holland and Zeeland East, who combined to have seven of the top 10 runners and tied for first with 40 points apiece.

Mona Shores’ Jackson Helmer placed third individually with a time of 17:00.67. Caleb Branch was fourth (17:18.15), Abram Freye was ninth (18:42.98), Aiden Cook finished 17th (19:55.40) and Dakota Gudgell was 18th (20:08.93).

In the girls race, Mona Shores took second as a team with 51 points, trailing first-place Zeeland East, which had 24.

Mona Shores’ Robyn Hunt was fourth individually with a time of 21:54.66. Destiny Douglas was eighth (22:42.20), Cecilia Conrad was 10th (22:59.42), Audrey White was 16th (23:24.02) and Samantha Hill was 18th (24:44.50).

Overall, nine Mona Shores boys runners and seven girls posted either a season best or personal best time.
