Seven local schools were among the more than 40 cross country teams that competed in the Allendale Invitational Saturday. There were seven races throughout the day featuring a handful of the teams and runners were ranked by time at the end of the day to assign team scores.

Hart, Hesperia, Mona Shores, Montague, North Muskegon, Reeths-Puffer and Western Michigan Christian all competed in the event.

In the girls race, the Hart Pirates came out victorious on the day. The Pirates were led by 2 Alyson Enns (17:46, 2nd), Savannah Ackley (18:22, 4th), Audrianna Enns (18:44, 7th) and Lynae Ackley (19:21, 15th).

Reeths-Puffer finished 16th, with top times from Kennedy Hynde (20:58), Audrey Darling (21:15) and Eva Shinabery (21:28).

Right behind the Rockets was WMC in 17th place. The Warriors were paced by top overall finisher Abby VanderKooi, who ran a 16:48. The next finishers for WMC were Ava Rotman (21:36) and Brianna Zuidema (21:51).

Mona Shores came in 21st overall with best times coming from Robyn Hunt (19:47, 25th), Destiny Douglas (21:33) and Audrey White (21:54).  

Montague finished 25th on the day. The top Wildcat runners were Isabelle Auch (20:43), Dreea Atchison (21:12) and Erica Peets (22:02). 

North Muskegon and Hesperia did not have enough runners to qualify for the team standings. The Norse were led by Gabriella Wingard (20:48) and Carolyn Bennett (22:52) and the Panthers were led by Becci Castillo (22:21) and Alivia Tomaras (26:22).

Hart was also the top local finisher in the boys race, finishing second overall. The Pirates’ top runners were Alex Enns (16:26, 10th), Spencer VanderZwaag (16:41, 20th) and Clayton Ackley (16:41, 24th). 

Reeths-Puffer was next among area teams, coming in 18th. Top Rocket runners were Klay Grant (16:38, 15th), Brett Schlaff (17:00) and Tate Bradley (18:30). 

The Sailors were next in 25th, led by Caleb Branch (16:57), Aidan Kreps (17:49) and Will Parsekian (18:43). 

In 32nd place was WMC. Top Warrior runners included Jonathan Clausing (18:00), Pierce Newell (18:48) and Tyler Gould (19:04).  

Montague was next in 33rd, led by Kaden Hainer (17:20), Owen Fairchild (18:40) and Conner Raeth (19:40).

The top Norse runners on the day were Jude Meldrum-Roy (18:42), Parker Maciejewski (19:47) and Ben Skujins (19:51), while Hesperia boys were paced by Stephen Priese (19:15) and Ayden Sturtevant (19:34).
