The Hesperia football team overcame a sluggish start and defeated Perry 36-21 on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference road game.

Perry scored a touchdown on its opening drive, but the Panthers answered later in the first quarter when Johnny Majersky scored on a three-yard run. The PAT kick attempt failed, leaving Perry clinging to a 7-6 lead.

But it was all Hesperia the rest of the way. The Panthers scored twice in the second quarter, on a 39-yard run by Mack Baird and a 28-yard run by Brandon Quinn, and led 22-7 at halftime.

Hesperia added two TDs in the second half, on a 10-yard pass from Majersky to River Roberson, and on a three-yard scoring burst by Quinn.

Baird led the ground game with 121 yards on 15 carries. Quinn finished with 86 yards on 13 rushes. while Majersky totaled 54 yards on 14 carries.

Quinn led the Hesperia defense with 10 tackles, including a sack, and Gabe Prado had six tackles, including two sacks.

Hesperia, now 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the CSAA Silver Division, will close out the regular season with a conference game at White Cloud next Friday.
