Trent Beerman scored two goals to lead the Orchard View soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Muskegon Catholic in Lakes 8 action Thursday.

It was the Cardinals’ first win of the season.

Beerman opened the scoring with 30:55 left in the first half and grabbed his second goal with 28 minutes remaining in the game.

Orchard View’s other goal came on a penalty spot by Eli Luce late in the first half.

Dakota Palencar had seven saves in goal for the Cardinals, who are 1-13-1 on the season.

REETHS-PUFFER 4, ZEELAND WEST 1 – Jaxon Carpenter scored two goals for the Rockets while Aiden McHugh and Liam Smith each had single tallies.

Darren Patterson and Logan Jurecki each had assists for Reeths-Puffer, which had a shutout going until Zeeland West scored with less than a minute remaining in the game.

The Rockets had a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Gage Hopkins stopped five shots for Reeths-Puffer, which played with a one-man advantage for 50 minutes of the game due to a red card.

LUDINGTON 4, MANISTEE 0 – Goals by Nick Patterson, Parker Wendt, Colby Peplinski, and Matthew Snyder powered the Orioles to a comfortable conference victory.

Noah King contributed with two assists while Bruce Thompson and Wendt chipped in one apiece.

Ludington is now 11-4-2 overall and 6-1 in conference.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

SHELBY 3, HART 1 – The Tigers took a 2-0 halftime lead and cruised to the victory over their Oceana County rivals.

Josephy Hayes, Ricardo Bahena and Logan Claeys  all scored for Shelby.

Brian Garcia, Logan Claeys, Henry Kidder, Mauricio Castillo and Carson Claeys are turned in strong defensive games for Shelby.
