The Mona Shores volleyball team rallied back from a two-set deficit to defeat the Trojans in a GMAA Tier 1 contest on Thursday in a five-set contest.

The Sailors won by service scores of 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-8 and 15-7 to advance to the semifinals, which will be played on Saturday morning at Reeths-Puffer.

Anabeth Hylland finished the evening with 12 kills for the Sailors, while Riley Rosenthal finished off with 10 and both Bri Wade and Brooke LeRoux had seven each.

LeRoux anchored the Sailors defensively with 29 digs.

The Trojans were led by Brook Sieplinga with 15 kills, while Sydney Woods finished with seven. Jenna VanderVelde dished out 18 assists and Raegan Dykstra had 13.

Sarah Zielinski led the way defensively for Fruitport with 37 digs, while Woods had 10. 

Mona Shores improved to 14-6 overall, while the Trojans are now 4-19 this season. 

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 3, GRAND RIVER PREP 1-The Crusaders defeated Grand River Prep in non-conference action Wednesday night by scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-19 and 25-10.

Erin LaVigne paced the Crusaders with eight kills, while Maria Modaff and Cara Burkall finished with seven apiece.

Alena Martin led MCC in serving with nine aces and Claire LaVigne facilitated the offense by distributing 34 assists.

The Crusaders were led defensively by Erin LaVigne with 12 digs while Emma Maierhauser finished with eight. Burkall anchored the frontline with four blocks. 

MCC improved to 9-6 overall on the season.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 3, MASON COUNTY EASTERN 0-The Spartans swept past their opponent on Thursday by scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-11.

Hailey Jackson paced the Spartans with nine kills, Wren Nelson had five and Amya Battice added four.

Maxi Green led MCC with six assists while Braylen Green had five. 

The Spartans were paced defensively by Maxi Green, Charlie Banks, Mia McHenry and Ashleigh Walle with one dig apiece.

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 3, ZION CHRISTIAN 1-Ella Dykman and Emmalee Dykman finish with 14 kills each as the Eagles beat Alliance Conference foe on service scores of 25-19, 25-13, 18-25 and 25-15 on Thursday.

Logan Burgess also finished the game with 10 kills and five aces. Ella Dykman finished with five aces and Madison Hoofman recorded three. Bekah Dukes dished out 39 assists. 

Dukes led the Eagles defensively with 14 digs, while Emmalee Dykman recorded 12 and Burgess finished with 11. 

Calvary improved to 9-4-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play. 

WEST MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 3, COVENANT CHRISTIAN 1– The Warriors won a non-league game by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 15-25 and 25-15 on Thursday.

Alisha Leffring and Kyla Wiersema paced the Warriors with 14 kills each. Kendal Young facilitated the offense by dishing out 41 assists. 

Young led the WMC defense with 23 digs, while Maddie Wiersema recorded 19 and Kyla Wiersema had 15. 

The Warriors improved to 20-10 overall.
