A late rally lifted Ludington over Western Michigan Christian in a Lakes 8 baseball game Thursday night.

The Warriors led 6-5 in the sixth inning, but the Orioles struck for a pair of runs to take a 7-6 lead and held on to win by that score.

Hayden Madl earned the win on the mound for the Orioles, pitching three scoreless innings while allowing one hit and collecting three strikeouts.

Stephen Weinert led Ludington with two hits and two runs. Ty Wincheski had one hit, scored one run, and had one RBI.

Sam Liggett paced the Warriors with two hits, three RBI’s, and two runs, followed by Micah TerHaar with two hits and two runs Samuel VanOrman with one hit and two RBI’s. Mason Goorman pitched five innings, striking out two batters and allowing three hits and five runs.

The Orioles are now 8-6 for the season, with a 4-2 record in the Lakes 8 Conference. Western Michigan Christian falls to a record of 3-8, with a 2-4 record in conference play.

LAKES 8

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 12, MANISTEE 5 — The Crusaders improved to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in Lakes 8 play with a win over Manistee Thursday.

Dewey Modaff earned the win on the mound for the Crusaders, giving up five hits and recording four strikeouts.

Max Price tallied four hits and four stolen bases for MCCl, followed by Tom Kartes and Navarre Klint with two each.

O-K BLUE

FRUITPORT 4-1, HOLLAND CHRISTIAN 3-3 — Fruitport and Holland Christian split a pair of O-K Blue games Thursday. 

Austin Wilson earned the win from the mound for Fruitport in the first game, pitching seven innings. Wilson struck out four batters and gave up seven hits. Zander Beatty led the Trojans with two runs and two RBIs, followed by Black Hronek with two hits and Wilson with a run.

Gavin Reames pitched six innings in the second game, racking up 10 strikeouts and giving up three hits.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

WHITEHALL 12, SHELBY 11 — Whitehall defeated Shelby in the first game of a West Michigan Conference doubleheader with a walk-off walk.

Ryan Brandenburg drew the free pass with the bases loaded in an 11-11 game in the bottom of the seventh to end the game. 

Whitehall led by seven runs in the sixth inning before Shelby made a spirited comeback attempt.

Aidan Raymond pitched just over six innings for the Vikings, where he made nine strikeouts and allowed 11 hits and six runs. Connor Young led Whitehall offensively with two hits and three stolen bases. Kyle Stratton and Brandenburg both earned one RBI for the Vikings.

The second game was suspended due to darkness with Whitehall leading 8-0 at the top of the fifth.

NORTH MUSKEGON 6-12, RAVENNA 4-2 — The Norse swept conference foe Ravenna Thursday to move to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in the West Michigan Conference. 

Charlie Branch got the win for the Norse in Game 1, allowing no runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Shamus Corbett and Matt Colbert each had three hits, while Alec Cutter had a pair of hits and a homerun.

Joe Duplissis got the win in the nightcap, giving up two runs on six hits in five innings. Corbett and Matt Herniman had a pair of hits each.
